The Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center invites you to kick off your holiday season by participating in our Gingerbread decorating contest and fundraising auction. Interested bakers, schools (including homeschoolers), organizations, businesses, families, and groups are invited to submit a homemade gingerbread creation to be displayed, judged, and auctioned off during our “Joy & Gingerbread” event. 

AUCTION EVENT: 
Tuesday, November 18, 2025, ~ Senior Activity Center, 1301 East Tom Green, Brenham
Doors open for silent auction at 5:30PM
Live auction starts at 6:30PM - conducted by auctioneer Roger Chambers
Refreshments provided by Senior Center Staff
All auction proceeds will benefit the Margaret E Blizzard Senior Activity Center

PARTICIPANTS:
  • Elementary and upper-level public and church school classes in Brenham and Burton
  • Individuals
  • Groups
  • Businesses and organizations
Decorating Categories:

K-6th grade
  • Individual students/members can decorate paper gingerbread houses to be strung in garlands, which will be submitted into a bucket auction the night of the event.
  • Each classroom/group may enter a decorated house to be entered into an auction
  • The Senior Activity Center will supply gingerbread house kits and patterns for garland upon request.

7th - 12th Grades
  • Each classroom/group may enter a decorated house to be entered into an auction.
  • The Senior Activity Center will supply gingerbread house kits.

​18 yrs and older (
any individual or group may participate)
  • Participants will decorate a holiday-themed gingerbread structure that will fit onto a 12” x 14” base.

Professionals
  • 18 yrs and older (any individual or group may participate, including Professional bakeries and restaurants)
  • Participants will decorate a holiday-themed gingerbread structure that will fit onto an 18” x 24” base.
  • Please see our website for gingerbread specifications for the professional category.

Winners in each category will receive recognition, pictures, and Social Media advertising.
TO DONATE A GINGERBREAD HOUSE:

If you plan to donate a house, please complete a registration form, which may be picked up at the Senior Center or downloaded from our website @ www.seniorcenterbrenham.org
Please register is October 1, 2025
Return your form to the Senior Center: in person, by snail mail (PO Box 401), or scan and email to [email protected]
  • All exposed elements on the houses must be edible
  • Completed gingerbread houses need to be delivered to the Senior Center on November 13, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm
All houses submitted become 
  • the property of WCHLA and will be auctioned off
